TRAINING

learn the basics

Working with weights is the only form of exercise that can significantly change both the way your body looks and the way it functions. There's a bit of a learning curve, and it's not something you want to do badly. So it's important that you work with trainers who have a deep understanding of the mechanics of the human body.

SHAPE

Improving the shape of your body is best accomplished through isolation work. A split squat or a bicep curl. Higher glutes and defined arms show up much quicker if you concentrate on only one or two muscles during each lift. The goal of each set is to generate as much intensity as possible. This is in stark contract to strength training, where the goal is to learn how to make each set as easy as possible.

STRENGTH

Strength training revolves around complex, multi-joint lifts. To build strength, you must learn to use as much of your body as you can during any given moment. The deadlift and squat are classic examples of strength lifts. Because of the complexity, mechanics matters far more than with an isolation lift. These bigger movements also build individual muscle mass, but the strength is developed holistically, instead of individually.

If you feel ready, and you like working hard, this is the place.
